Traffic passes on a tree-lined street in the early spring, before the leaves have sprouted. Birds sing and there are several minutes of ambience. Then, a siren can be heard in the distance and eventually, a big fire engine passes, siren blaring and engine roaring.

Theme scary siren :. Production step :i record a scream. I cut it and extract two different sounds from it. I change the pitch to get the sound more high-pitched. I also change the tempo to be more slow. I separate the track in two and invert the last part. With the enveloppe tool, i change some part of my track manually. I amplify the track. I also use the reverb effect and amplify the size of the room of 60%. I used the noise reduction. At the end i fade out. I used the noise reduction. The warnings are in the following order: caution (three pulses), alert (steady), attack (wailing), large fire (hi-lo), evacuate (hi-lo/alternate wail). These don't conform to any signal guidelines and must not be used for anything other than a mere sound effect.

A stereo wav recording from a zoom h1n during a thunderstorm today. One siren picks up followed by several more producing a convincing stereo image. I have done a basic bass roll-off, but have left it otherwise untouched. If you have a spectral editor you can probably clean out more of the noise, but i couldn't do so and keep the sirens sounding good.
